Road safety concerns, in particular speeding, are consistently raised by our local communities. Speed cameras (both mobile and fixed) are located in areas where there have been collisions and where there is a demonstrated speeding problem. Throughout November the local team with the assistance of the safer neighbourhood officer from Oswestry Rural North completed various speed surveys and enforcement within the area. These enforcement's were done using a Trucam and any necessary penalties and correspondence will be sent directly to the registered keeper of any offending vehicles, as for the surveys, this data is collated and sent to the relevant departments and shared with the local parish councils. Please find below the outcomes for the activities: • Newtown/Shrewsbury Road, 63 vehicles checked with an average speed of 24.66mph and none in excess • Newtown/Shrewsbury Road, 63 vehicles checked with an average speed of 23.90mph and none in excess • B4397 40mph zone, 12 vehicles checked with an average speed of 31.33mph, 1 vehicle in excess of speed limit. • B4397 40mph zone, 52 Vehicles checked with an average speed of 29.25, 1 vehicle in excess of speed limit. • Grange Road 74 vehicles checked with an average speed of 24.20mph, 2 vehicles in excess of speed limit. • Elson Road 56 vehicles checked with an average speed of 26.85mph, six vehicles in excess of speed limit. • Welsh Frankton 95 vehicles checked with an average speed of 27.77mph, 12 vehicles in excess of speed limit. • Welsh Frankton 74 vehicles checked with and average speed of 25.62mph, none in excess. • Duddleston Heath 40mph, 33 vehicles checked with an average speed of 32mph, and none excess • Duddleston Heath 40mph, 41 vehicles checked with an average speed of 35.46mph, 2 in excess of speed limit. • Duddleston Heath 40mph, 47 vehicles checked with an average speed of 35.46mph, 2 in excess of speed limit • Welshampton 35 vehicles checked with an average speed of 23.6mph, none in excess of the speed limit • Welshampton 23 vehicles checked with an average speed of 24.21mph, none in excess of the speed limit • Cockshutt Shrewsbury Road – enforcement only, 7 vehicles in excess of limit • Cockshutt Shrewsbury Road – enforcement only, 2 vehicles in excess of limit • Criftins 30mph, 40 vehicles checked with an average speed of 26.3mph, 1 vehicle in excess of speed limit. • Criftins 30mph, 51 vehicles checked with an average speed of 27.06mph, 1 vehicle in excess of speed limit. Lets keep our local roads safe. Thank you
